Daylight is Coming: Morganville Vampires Read Along

We are T-minus 2 weeks until the "Daylight is Coming" Morganville Vampire Readalong commences and I thought I'd go a bit more in depth about things.

Each month we'll read 3-4 books and the assorted Short Stories that fall in between the books. I know Four sounds like a lot, but remember the first 8 books were very slim (none above 300 pages, very few above 270pages), it was only with the publication of the first Hardcover (Ghost Town) that the books began to be 320 pages and more.

Most of the Short Stories are available online--I'll clearly indicate which are not so you have time to find the story (if you are so inclined).

On the 5th of each month I'll post the Master Post for the Month (it'll be linked on the sidebar underneath the Readlong Banner). I'll keep it updated with any reviews, discussion posts or sundry MV related things as well as Discussion Questions we have.

There will be one contest a month with a chance to win any book in the Morganville Vampires series (hardcover, softcover, omnibus, ebook or audio), but please bare in mind this is restricted to anywhere the Book Depository sends, that can access audible (for audiobooks) or Amazon (for Ebooks).

Closer to the publications of Daylighters I'll tell you guys about the COntest for its publication (but shhhh its a secret for now).

Additionally there's a number of Short Stories that aren't numerically fixed as to where they land chronologically:

  • Myrnin's Tale
  • Amelie's Story
  • Sam's Story
  • Wrong Place, Wrong Time
  • Lunch Date
  • Automatic
  • Drama Queen's Last Dance

I figure we can split those to reading between September to November.

Please remember that you don't HAVE to read at the same pace as I (or anyone else) reads, but each month's posts will have spoilers for those particular books and any before them.

Now to how y'all can participate! If possible I'd like to have a chat (twitter? facebook? google hangout? an actual chatroom maybe?) with two or three folks that I could then post up (or they can) on my blog just discussing the series and the author and just conversate?

If there's enough interest we can make it every month or a couple chats.

Plus all the posts you can think of! Talk about your favorite casting rumors, your favorite (or least favorite) couples and characters. What baddie scared you and who do you wish had more time on page?

Not to mention--guys there is a WEB SERIES in development! You can check out the Kickstarter here, but this is an important tidbit to keep in mind (from Update #3, Rachel Caine):
Here’s the thing that I didn’t want to come right out and say in the beginning, but it’s definitely on our minds: this web series could be the first step to a motion picture or broadcast TV show. If we do this, and do it right, it becomes a proven quantity, and one that could convince major investors to get on board. (We know there’s an audience for it. But pulling off this Kickstarter and getting Morganville in tangible form they can see? That’s proof.)
Guys I want my Morganville Vampires show. I REALLY REALLY DO. I will even tolerate the CW touching it, because I really really want this show.

So let's do this!
