The Summer of Christie continues 9/3 with After the Funeral, the Hercule Poirot book where Magneto shows up! (joking...sort of...) We're a little late to the game, but our discussion goes live at Bookclub Girl.
If you're so inclined you have two versions of the audio to listen to--the whispersync compatible Version read by Hugh Fraser (aka Captain Hastings aka the Love of my Detective Life) or you can listen to the full cast radio drama done by the BBC with John Moffatt as our Belgium Detective. Both are available at Audible.
If you're more interested in a film adaptation you are in luck! In 2006 David Suchet donned the fabulous mustache of our detective with co-stars Michael Fassbender (Magneto!) and Lucy Punch (I love her...). And some others. Here's the imdb page for it.
And here's some gratiutous pictures of Michael and Lucy just because I can:
|Hey baby wanna see me bend some metal?|
|There aren't words for the beauty of him.|
Meanwhile I recommend you also check out Investigating Agatha Christie's Poirot blog entry on the movie. The author is obviously not as enamored of Magneto as I am, but I can forgive that.
Here's a couple videos from William Morrow books about After the Funeral:
In which Sophie Hannah talks about After the Funeral:
After the Funeral was a WORLD BOOK NIGHT giveaway this year!
So there you have it. Discuss the book or any of Christie's works via the #monogrammurders hashtag with us why don't you?
