PR Special Edition (30): HP Mallory Interview

Poisoned Rationality Special  Edition

Welcome to another Poisoned Rationality Special Edition!   Today we have H.P. Mallory, author of the Dulcie O'Neil urban fantasy series and the Jolie Wilkens paranormal romance series.

***Please note A Tale of Two Goblins is the second book in the Dulcie O'Neil series after To Kill a Warlock.***

Synopsis: A Dreamstalker— a creature that stalks and kills its victims in sleep.

A fairy in law enforcement determined to stop him.

A potions smuggler who possesses something she wants.

A vampire with his own agenda.

And a partner who couldn’t possibly be sexier or more frustrating.

Dulcie O’Neil is a fairy working in law enforcement for the Netherworld.
When Knight Vander approaches her with a case regarding comatose victims, she agrees to help him, imagining the most difficult part will be combatting her attraction to him.

But, what Dulcie isn’t betting on is the fact that the case becomes personal when she learns all the victims are somehow linked to her.

When her best friend falls victim to the Dreamstalker, Dulcie must do everything in her power to ensure her friend’s survival, including associating with criminals and accepting the fact that desperate times do definitely call for desperate measures.

Thank you HP for coming by the blog!
Thanks for having me!

You signed a deal with Random House for the next three books in the Jolie series, are you relieved that some of the burden of promoting the book will fall on someone else's shoulders so that you can spend some quality time with your writing again?
I'm extremely excited about the deal with Random House because this will be a completely new experience for me and with the backing of the biggest publisher out there, I can't even imagine what they'll be able to do for my career. It was always my dream to be a traditionally published author and I'm really thrilled I can maintain my indie presence with my Dulcie books but also be traditionally published with the Jolie books. I'm really thrilled and excited and I feel so incredibly lucky.

You are very involved with your readers and fans--you've run several successful contests where readers get a chance to be a character in your book (amongst other prizes) and in my experience wonderfully responsive in comments and emails. Have there been any touching reviews or emails you've received that perked up your day?
What is amazing to me is how many emails I get from people everyday, saying how much they loved my books. I get all sorts of emails from funny ones to touching ones. And these emails and posts on facebook make my day everyday. It's such a wonderful feeling to know I've touched someone with my stories and offered them a happy break from their otherwise busy lives!
Writing the more romance driven Jolie Wilkens series and the more world driven Dulcie O'Neil series, have you ever thought about doing a short story where they meet up and shoot the breeze? Just kind of goof off and compare notes on their lives?
This question has come up before which leads me to believe that maybe I should! LOL I hadn't really considered it before--I sort of wanted to keep the two series separate but it's definitely not outside the scope of what could happen. I'm pretty much open to any and all ideas and I do think it would be pretty awesome for Jolie to meet Dulcie!
Are there any scenes or elements you leave out of the Dulcie books because its not meant to be a paranormal romance series?
Um, no not really. I definitely have romance as a theme in the Dulcie books but there's just more action in those books so maybe it seems like it isn't as strong a theme? I'm not really sure. But, I definitely plan on continuing to incorporate romantic themes and sexy scenes in the Dulcie series.
Can you give us a little bit of info for what's in store for Dulcie coming up? (or throw us all a bone in regards to Dulcie/Knight? The ending killed me. It really did.)
LOL I wish I had a dollar for every reader who said the ending was a huge tease--I'd be one wealthy woman! LOL And, yes, I did that on purpose just to keep you all on your toes! LOL Yes, I can tell you that in the next book, Dulcie will travel to the Netherworld and I've figured out what I'm going to do with the whole series and it's going to be an enormous twist!

Quick Qs

Cake or pie? Pie all the way
Sexy Vampire or hot Netherworld agent? Hmm can't really answer this one because it might give something away! LOL
Morning or Evening person? Morning
Weirdest place you've gotten an idea for a story? Hmm, I don't really have weird places where I get ideas. Most my ideas come to me in the car while I'm driving! LOL (so do mine!)

Thank you HP!!!
Thank you so much, Lexie!!!
